LyondellBasell Polymers Plant, Bayport, Texas, 2010-2011

SIS validation and Maintenance Optimization Project

This interesting project required that Houston Controls research, document , optimize, and develop maintenance procedures for SIS systems on four large extruder lines at LyondellBasell’s Polymers plant in Bayport, Texas. The plant had conducted a study of its operations when its method of operation was changed to meet new market conditions, and it was found that new requirements could not be met without updating. Houston Controls was contacted and provided a highly experienced and skilled Specialist at the plant site for nearly a year. The specialist:

1. Researched the Plants systems,
2. Updated or developed documentation where necessary,
3. Developed Maintenance plans and methods required for ONLINE TESTING
4. Updated the Plant’s SAP periodic maintenance system to provide automated maintenance.

Although this project was not on the scale of a large turnaround, and was not highly profitable, Houston Controls was very interested in supporting the client’s needs in these highly critical areas, and was glad to assist a valued client.
