Calpine Generating Facility

Houston Controls was hired to perform turnaround work and recertification of a large number of control loops in a Calpine power generation facility. The work was against a hard deadline, since startup of the large gas turbine unit (with reheat) could not be delayed due to the onset of peak generating season.

While the work might be considered routine, the large number of loops required steady high completion rates; and due to the age of the plant, many old transmitters required replacement. Houston Controls personnel completed the work on time and within specification, and the generator went back on line as scheduled.
