For this large, (over $50 million project) to change out the Main Air Blower and overhaul the Cracking Reactor in Lyondell’s Houston Refinery, Houston Controls provided personnel for key planning and scoping positions, and then provided additional services to "pick up the slack" when the primary contractor for IEA services was unable to provide adequate forces for execution of the work. As the project neared its end Houston Controls was also asked to assume responsibility for preparing and managing loop and completion folders, and successfully completed this work under a tight deadline. This project extended over 8 weeks of intensive work during the execution phase, and was over a year in the planning phase. The work was complicated by the fact that a severe fire in the area during the previous year had required much improvised patch work, which in turn caused many red-lined drawings to be generated during the execution phase, all of which had to be managed and then rendered to the plant forces at project end.
Houston Controls was instrumental in making this project successful because of their pro-active approach and ability to work under intense pressure, their dedication to accuracy and timely completion, and an experienced and highly qualified staff and technician base that is not disturbed by challenges.
Our people sustained no recordable injuries during this job, and participated fully in the plant and turnaround safety processes.
We take pride in meeting the challenges that Turnaround work so often presents.
